Oxford Aviation PPL/ATPL VFR Communications Theory | 178 MB
This interactive, multimedia Radiotelephony (RT) tutor, created by Oxford Aviation Training, is designed to give you tuition in the RT skills you need when flying in accordance with the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) anywhere in the world. All RT procedures and phraseology taught in this CD-ROM are fully compliant with ICAO requirements. The tutor will also help you prepare for the JAR-FCL VFR Communications examination and for the RT Operator's Licence test. The CR-ROM is ideal for both the beginner and for the qualified pilot who wishes to refresh existing skills.
This multimedia RT course is based on ICAO RT procedures and the JAR-FCL VFR Communications Syllabus. Full instructions are given on the new 6/4 digit procedure for passing radio frequencies over the RT. The CD-ROM is designed as a stand-alone training aid so that when you have worked your wya through all the lessons, you will be thoroughly familiar with the general RT procedures associated with a VFR flight.
Student professional pilots preparing for an Instrument Rating will find that the RT procedures taught on this CD-ROM apply also to IFR RT Communications.
This CD-ROM will also be an invaluable aid to those pilots - private and professional - whose mother tongue is not English and who wish to perfect their RT English. Text boxes contain the wording of all RT transmissions. A record/playback facility is available in every lesson.

Oxford Aviation Training - IFR RT Communications CBT | IMG | 752 MB
Genre: Training
This IFR RT Computer Based Training (CBT) CD-ROM from OATmedia is a follow-on from the ICAO/JAA version of OATmedia's VFR RT CBT tutor. It is intended for pilots who have completed VFR RT training and who now wish to expan their knowledge and skills to IFR situations.
The CBT complies with ICAO IFR RT procedures. Its main purpose is to provide pilots preparing for an Instrument Rating test with practical instruction in IFR RT skills. The CBT also covers the IFR elements of the JAA Communications Syllabus and therefore, will also provide excellent preparation for the JAA ground examinations in IFR RT Communications.
The CBT contains many examples of IFR RT used in both uncontrolled and controlled airspace. The CBT clearly gives students a pilot's-eye view of the air situation as well as a plan view, showing the aircraft's position in relation to airspace boundaries, airfield zones and runways. The graphics, together with the audio sequences, give the student a complete picture of the air-traffic situation.
At the end of the IFR RT lessons, there is a Flight Scenario based on an Instrument Rating test profile and an interactive multiple choice exam, similar to the JAA IFR RT written examination.
Qualified IR pilots who wish to perfect their English Language IFR RT skills will also find this CBT to be of value. Text boxes contain the wording of all RT transmissions and a record/playback facility is available in every lesson.

- Oxford Aviation Training - ATPL Aviation Meteorology CBT | IMG | 752 MB
Genre: Training
Oxford Aviation Training and the Met Office have developed a self-teach, media-rich, interactive Computer Based Training (CBT) course of theoretical and practical Meteorology aimed at both student and qualified pilots. Instruction is up to JAA ATPL level, but as the course is designed for beginners it is suitable for CPL and PPL pilots, too.
The main aim of this CBT is to give pilot-oriented training in Aviation Met theory and to teach pilots to use this theory to interpret met forecasts and reports in order to plan safe and expeditious flying sorties. The secondary aim of the CBT is to teach pilots how to extract and interpret met information from the Met Office's web site.
Contents:
A self-teach, media rich, interactive computer based training (CBT) course in Aviation Meteorology.
Covers JAA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Learning Objectives.
Also suitable for PPL and CPL.
Includes both JAA and FAA style self assessment test questions up to ATPL.
Comprehensive coverage of all types of forecasts and reports: TAFs, METARs, Spot Wind charts, etc.
Links to Met Office and Aviation Weather websites.
Part 1 - Aviation Meteorology Theory
This section covers the requirements of the JAA ATPL theoretical knowledge syllabus for Meteorology and much more besides. Emphasis is placed on the practical significance of meteorological phenomena for pilots. The self-assessment tests, with feedback, are available both in the form of general tests and tests in JAA and FAA formats. As the theory course is designed for beginners it is suitable for CPL and PPL pilots, too.
Part 2 - Flight Briefing Information
This section contains instruction on types of forecast available to pilots and interpretation of forecasts for flight planning purposes, e.g. METARs, TAFs, spot wind charts, significant weather charts, etc. In the case of METARs and TAFs, there are seperate lessons covering both the JAA and FAA conventio
